Nathanaël Berthon wins WTCR C1 in Jeddah

Nathanaël Berthon ends the season with a bang. After his podium in Bahrain, the Auvergne followed with a victory in the first race of the last weekend in WTCR history. In Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the Frenchman beat Norbert Michelisz and Tom Coronel accompanied him on the first podium of the evening.

The outcome of this last round in the history of world tourism was already sealed since Mikel Azcona, official driver Hyundai, had won the 2022 crown yesterday. It was therefore without any pressure that the Spaniard set off from 3rd place on the starting grid.

Poleman in the first race of the weekend, Berthon got off to an excellent start, perfectly controlling the impulses of Norbert Michelisz (Hyundai Motorsport). In the peloton no major incidents were to be reported.

The race was even very good on the part of the competitors, with the notable exception of a contact at the end of the race between Azcona and Gilles Magnus to gain 5th place.

With his victory, Berthon moves up in the general classification and could steal the runner-up place from Nestor Girolami, 10th in this first round.
