Nestor Girolami easy winner in C1 in Hungary

Author of pole position in qualifying, Nestor Girolami (Honda Civic TCR – Münnich Motorsport) took a serious option this Saturday to aim for victory on the Hungaroring turnstile, where overtaking remains tricky.

Confirmation in the race, since the Argentinian led from start to finish the twelve laps on the program of this first confrontation, winning his first success of the year ahead of Yvan Muller (Lynk & Co 03 TCR – Cyan Performance Lynk) and Esteban Guerrieri ( Honda Civic TCR – Münnich Motorsport).

At the start, Girolami remained in first position ahead of Muller. Aurélien Panis (Cupra TCR – Comtoyou Racing) managed to move up to third place against Guerrieri for a while, but the Argentinian resisted during the first three corners.

Panis, however, cannot contain Yann Ehrlacher who moves up to fourth position. The Alsatian, however, will not be able to take advantage of his good start since the suspension of Ehrlacher's Lynk & Co gives way a few minutes later.

The latter tried to stay on the track for a while, but ultimately had to lower his flag. Aurélien Panis took advantage of this, but could do nothing in the face of the almost simultaneous attack from Jean-Karl Vernay (Audi RS 3 LMS – TCR – Audi Sport Team Leopard) who moved up to fourth position.

The hierarchy will remain similar at the head of the race, since if Muller resists an attempt by Guerrieri three laps from the finish, the Frenchman reduces the gap on the leader Girolami in the last two loops, without managing to attempt an attack.

Girolami therefore won ahead of Muller and Guerrieri. Vernay and Panis climbed into the top 5 ahead of Frédéric Vervisch (Audi RS 3 LMS TCR – Audi Sport Team Comtoyou), Thed Björk (Lynk & Co 03 TCR – Cyan Racing), Johan Kristoffersson (Volkswagen Golf TCR – Sébastien Loeb Racing VW) et les Hyundai i30 TCR d’Augusto Farfus (BRC Lukoil) et Norbert Michelisz (BRC Squadra Corse).

Guerreri currently dominates the Drivers' championship with 75 points, five points ahead of Björk.
