New dates for the GT World Challenge Europe with the arrival of Magny-Cours

The coronavirus crisis quite logically leads to changes to calendars in the world of sport. The GT World Challenge Europe is no exception with a new version published by SRO Motorsports Group on Friday May 15.

While unveiling a battery of health measures (physical distancing in particular) which will be detailed soon, the organizer announces the start of the campaign near Imola (Italy) the weekend of July 25 and 26. L'Endurance Cup will open the ball with a three-hour race while the GT4 European Series will benefit from two races of one hour each.

The Endurance Cup will then travel to the Nürburgring (Germany) at the beginning of September, with the format extending to six hours of effort. The teams will be able to focus on the 24 Hours of Spa (Belgium) in October before the season finale scheduled at Paul-Ricard (Var), still on a six-hour racing format in mid-November.

As for the Sprint Cup, several circuits will host not two but three races in one weekend, in order to ensure the initial number of races planned for 2020. This will be the case of Misano (Italy) and Barcelona (Spain), while Zandvoort (Netherlands) remains at a binary scheme.

The novelty of this modified calendar comes from the presence of the Nevers Magny-Cours circuit (Nièvre). The French track will host the Sprint Cup with the French FFSA GT Championship from September 11 to 13, a first in the history of the European GT3 championship.
