Pau, the delight of the WTCC

Béarn hosts the fourth round of the WTCC. And will once again be the meeting place for all motorsport lovers. You only need to see the number of videos, on the internet, filmed during the Béarnaise round in previous years to see that the appeal of the Pau race cannot be called into question. After a sad third round of the WTCC in Marrakech, on a narrow circuit largely unfavorable for overtaking, the touring cars will face a tricky and often spectacular Grand Prix. Spectators can therefore only rejoice.

As for the setting, after the windy Moroccan circuit, established away from the city, the Pau circuit has the advantage of being located in a very attractive urban setting, like Macau. After the disappearance of the French Grand Prix from Formula 1, seeing a round of a world championship being contested in France is not a pleasure to sulk.

Winner last year of the first race (with pole position and best lap as a bonus), Augusto Farfus is eagerly awaited. Especially since in Pau, the BMW 320si will be the lightest cars among the three major manufacturers. The Frenchman Yvan Muller, who distanced himself at the head of the world championship in Morocco, will want to try to do well by stopping in front of his audience, even the weight handicap does not benefit him.

On a circuit which often sees driving errors leading to a big cacophony, there is no doubt that the drivers will above all want to control their driving. Having rolled over in 2007 in the Foch corner, Farfus knows what happens when driving too aggressively. But the Béarnais ring requires extreme concentration from drivers, since it has few straight lines and very tight or very fast turns.

In the same weekend, the Clio Cup, the Formula Renault 2.0 WEC, Formula Masters, Formula Academy, Racecar and the Legends Cars race.
