PCCF – Barcelona: Eric Debard still moves forward with pleasure

The years go by and some things never change. Eric Debard still roams the circuits of Europe, accompanied by a smile that never leaves him. Since last season, the Gentleman has set up camp in the paddock of the Porsche Carrera Cup France. 

Wanting to ride in a single-make championship, the Albi native has found a category that he likes: “ I really like this program. Over the years, you realize that the only thing that matters is the pleasure. I've been lucky enough to be doing this sport for thirty years, and I hope for many more. However, we're still winners, so the goal is to achieve the best possible results.

Runner-up last year with two wins, behind the almost untouchable Cyril Caillo (10 wins in 12 races), Eric Debard has only two rivals facing him this year: Jordan Boisson (TFT Racing) and Jean-Philippe Gambaro (ABM). Obviously, it's a bit of a shame, but I don't ask myself too many questions. Ultimately, on the track, you're never fighting with four or five people. My idea is to continue discovering this discipline and progressing as much as possible."

It must be said that the driver, like the Debard Automobiles by Racetivity team, is only in his second season in the Cup: " In 2024, we're starting from scratch, both of us. Racetivity is a great team that has won numerous championships. They're taking on a new challenge against teams that have been part of the Porsche Cup landscape for a very long time. I don't give them much time before I join them at the highest level."

To continue to progress, the structure is relying on Hugo Chevalier in 2025. Present in 2018 and 2019, the returning player is already having a positive impact on his team's work: " Hugo knows the Cup, its settings, he lets everyone benefit from his experience, confides the Am pilot. Having him next to me allows me to have a reference, a point of comparison and to better analyze my videos to understand what I can improve. 

One car in 2024, two this year, Eric Debard's idea is " to expand our presence. We will see in the future how everything evolves, but why not develop this program? »
