PCCF - Barcelona: Marc Guillot best time in Pro-Am: “I didn't expect to be in this place”

Entered for the first time in the Porsche Carrera Cup France, Marc Guillot finished free practice in the top-10 overall with the best time in Pro-Am this Friday in Barcelona. However, the Herrero Racing driver expects the ranking to change this Saturday.

For his first day in PCCF, Marc Guillot made his mark in Pro-Am. Runner-up to Bashar Mardini (Tsunami RT) during FP1, the Herrero Racing driver was the fastest in the second free practice session in his category, with more than four tenths ahead of his Tsunami RT counterpart. Beyond this great performance, he also finished in the top 10 in the scratch rankings, in seventh place.

« I didn't expect to be in this place! Of course, it's only free practice and we had new tires on, unlike some of our opponents. When we see that Marvin Klein is ninth, it proves that the new tires play a big role. The ranking doesn't mean much and it will change a lot tomorrow. »

However, without counting the final result, Marc Guillot is happy with his first laps on the Barcelona circuit. “ It was quite productive. I was finally able to do a decent lap with new tires because usually I always make a few mistakes. I'm still discovering the car and how to drive it. »

First objective to finish the race

This Saturday, Marc Guillot will participate in his first qualifying session and his first race behind the wheel of a Cup. If he showed that he was fast on a timed lap, the Herrero Racing driver will have to be able to string together loops for thirty minutes. “ J’ai plus que l’habitude de courir en peloton car j’ai roulé en Clio Cup où il y a des contacts et beaucoup de bagarre. Après en Porsche, c’est complètement différent. Déjà le prix de la voiture est bien plus élevé ! (Laughter). I'm not yet comfortable enough to push back my braking for example. »

If he hopes to reach the podium in Pro-Am, the main thing is elsewhere during this first weekend of the season. “ Our ambition is to finish all the races. If I lose places but the car comes back whole, that will already be positive. I will have to control my excitement and avoid the unexpected. » A first departure is always difficult to manage, it remains to be seen how Marc Guillot will do it.
