PCCF – Magny-Cours: Arthur Mathieu in the top-5: “The place I was aiming for”

This is your best result in qualifying, we can imagine your satisfaction!

This is clearly the place I was aiming for! After a season where we progressed, gained the necessary confidence with the car, I wanted to succeed in winning. I understood that you have to have confidence in yourself to do well. During the session, everything was great, we pushed at the right time. It’s a pleasant culmination of a lot of work.

Usually you are around the top-10. Do you think your position will allow you to have a better running pace?

I already have to learn how to manage an “active” platoon. By that I mean that I am often sandwiched between Pro-Ams, whose objectives are different from mine. There, I will be surrounded by Pros and Rookies, who want to show what they have in their stomach. The race will surely be more intense, seeing how it goes.

What will be the objective?

I hope to keep my starting position. I'm not going to look any further because the first four have a lot more pace. Just in front of me is the championship leader (Alessandro Ghiretti, fourth) who is also my teammate. The race will allow me to get my bearings in a group where I am not used to being.
