Mixed. This is the state of mind of Alessandro Ghiretti as he leaves the penultimate round of the 2024 PCCF season at Mugello. On paper, the assessment is far from bad. Of course, the driver Schumacher CLRT did not win the title but its two podiums allow it to be only two points from the title. A double pole in Portimão and the championship will be over.
However, the way the weekend unfolded makes the results much less positive: " I am a little disappointed because we had the speed to have a very good meeting, he regretted at the end of Race 2. We had a problem during qualifying that made me stay in the pits for a long time. I couldn't do a lap on my second set of tires. With the first two times, I was only sixth. »
With this problem behind him, the championship leader worked hard to get back into the race. Twice, he came back to Mathys Jaubert to challenge him for victory. Despite his efforts, he had to settle for second place: " Following a driver in front and overtaking him is very difficult at Mugello. The safety cars in Race 2 really made us lose time. I only had one chance to overtake him and I was far away. I am happy with the two podiums and the two fastest laps but obviously frustrated because we did not live up to our potential. »
The Junior Porsche Motorsport 2024 must now focus on the championship finale in Portimão, where it will travel with a clear and stated ambition: “ I will go to Portugal to win everything, the championship and the two races. »
