Philippe, you have won your first race since the Paul Ricard round. We can imagine your satisfaction!
This success feels great after two meetings where we didn't win. We are extremely happy. Mathys has been above the rest since the start of the weekend. From free practice, he had a steady pace and he was easy in the car. He managed his race in the best possible way, without making any mistakes. He showed remarkable composure.
Did you expect Alessandro Ghiretti (sixth on the grid) to come back to Mathys so quickly?
We expected it because he had more new tires. Unfortunately, there is not always resistance in the peloton. Starting from the observation that he had teammates between Mathys and him, we knew that he would come back strong. But it was not enough to win.
This also concludes a day where Mathys took two pole positions. How do you judge his progress in the fast lap exercise?
We are very pleased with his progress. At the beginning of the year, he was a driver who was not supposed to be at his best in qualifying. As the sessions went on, he quickly got closer to Alessandro Ghiretti's times (Schumacher CLRT) who, without realizing it, is in his fourth year of Cup, to today, win his first two poles in Cup France.
Tomorrow's goal is to implement the same plan?
Maybe it will be a little different. We will see if it works in Race 2.
