At the Los Angeles Auto Show, Porsche presented its new GT4 model, the 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, based on the road-going 718 Cayman GT4 RS which was shown to the public at the same time. We observe several changes compared to the old model, including the boxer engine which is now a six-cylinder 4-liter engine (formerly 3,8 liters) found in the 911 GT3 Cup.
“We have incorporated our experience from the last three years of operation of the previous GT4 Clubsport as well as customer wishes into the development of the new car, explains Michael Dreiser, Director of Sales and Distribution at Porsche Motorsport. Faster lap times combined with a further handling improvement provide our customers with a competitive product for the upcoming racing seasons in GT4 class competitions around the world.”
All improvements have been made with the aim of increasing the overall performance of the car. The engine increased to 500 horsepower, an increase of 75 over the old model. Porsche has also added a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox (up from 6 last year). The 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport has a capacity of 8300 rpm, a gain of 800 rpm. The addition of new shock absorbers adjustable in both directions provides better handling. Finally, the 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport has a 115-liter tank.
