Racers Edge and DXDT share VIR victories

Last weekend marked the resumption of the SRO championships with the second round of the GT World Challenge America at VIRginia International Raceway.

Two races where Racers Edge Motorsports and DXDT Racing shone with victory in race 1 for the No. 3 Acura NSX GT80 of Kyle Marcello and Martin Barkey, when the tandem George Kurtz – Colin Braun imposed the Mercedes-AMG GT3 n°4 of the DXDT during the second round.

Both crews also dominated their Pro-Am category in each race. Starting sixth in C1, Marcelli and Barkey took advantage of the neutralization on the 21st lap to move up the hierarchy and return in the wake of new leaders Martin Fuentes and Rodrigo Baptista (Ferrari 488 GT3 n°1 – Squadra Corse).

Marcelli immediately found the opening and took control of the race, which he would not relinquish until the finish. Racers Edge Motorsports even scored a double with second place in the No. 3 NSX GT93 of Blackstock – Hindman, the only entries and winners in the Silver Cup.

The next day, Racers Edge Motorsports seemed to have the race in hand with the dominance of the Hindman – Blackstock duo, but a penalty for excessive speed in the pit lane ultimately offered success to the Mercedes-AMG GT3 – DXDT of Braun – Kurtz. Barkey – Marcelli complete the podium ahead of Fuentes – Baptista, while Hindman – Blackstock only take 7th place, while dominating the Silver Cup.

Note the double victory in the Am Cup of the No. 488 Ferrari 3 GT31 – TR3 Racing of Megrue – Sweedler.
