Internal reorganization at AF Racing, parent company of R-Motorsport

Behind R-Motorsport, a Swiss team which competes in GT World Challenge Europe and Intercontinental GT Challenge, hides the entity AF Racing. The Swiss structure, owned by Drs Florian Kamelger and Andreas Baenziger, announced this Thursday the arrival in its ranks of Thomas Mayer, who will take the position of general director on May 1st.

Through Renault, Lotus or even Manor in F1, but also Bombardier, Thomas Mayer will lead the group in terms of managing day-to-day operations.

A recruitment which sees the Kamelger – Baenziger duo taking a step back from the pure operational aspect, the tandem wishing to refocus on the strategy and development possibilities for AF Racing.

Dr Florian Kamelger, however, remains Chairman of the Board of Directors of AF Racing as well as Team Principal of R-Motorsport, which, it should be remembered, will no longer be engaged in DTM this year, after just one season with the Aston Martin Vantage in 2019.

The team announced earlier in March that it wanted focus its main resources on the 2021 campaign, faced with the uncertainties weighing on the 2020 season with the coronavirus pandemic.
