Rob Huff leaves WTCR

Rob huff will not be part of the WTCR peloton in 2020. The Briton has confirmed his departure from the championship with immediate effect, following the announcement of the end of Volkswagen Motorsport's thermal program, with Huff playing within the Sébastien Loeb Racing in 2019.

The record holder for starts at the highest level of world tourism (350) won the WTCC title in 2012 with the official Chevrolet team after a clash with Alain Menu and Yvan Muller. Considered the king of Macau, Huff came very close to a tenth victory in 2019 on the Guia track, which would have completed a record of 31 world victories.

“I'm definitely ready to take on new challenges, and it's a good time to start working on other things, admits Huff. My immediate focus is on my racing team in China. I will also race there myself, while training and developing new talent.

And then something I didn't get to do last year is historic racing, which is something I really love, and maybe also getting back into sports cars and GT racing now I have a little more time.

It's been a great chapter in my career, and I'm sure there will probably be more touring car races in the future, but for now I'm really looking forward to a fresh start for 2020 .”

Huff will therefore not leave competition, focusing mainly on Asia and China, via the Huff Motorsport Teamwork.
