Sebastian Golz (Porsche) highlights GPX Racing's ability to adapt

But a last minute call changed the situation in the ranks of GPX Racing. “The drivers of the first GPX Racing team still wanted to learn before competing in Spa, told us Sebastian Golz, 911 GT3 R project manager at Porsche Motorsport before the race.

However, we closely followed the evolution of the team, how they worked, how they developed. GPX Racing also wanted to prepare for the next season. We ultimately wanted them to have the most experienced drivers possible, and we ultimately found a win-win situation. »

With a top-notch trio composed of Kévin Estre – Michael Christensen – Richard Lietz, GPX Racing offered a full race, despite an error during a refueling at the start of the event which caused a penalty to the 911 GT3 R n° 20.

“For them, the race was new, recalls Golz. At the beginning they made a mistake during a stop, but they recovered well, showed adaptation, and then it was perfect. We also saw that our car is good in all conditions, dry, drying, wet.

This is why the 911 GT3 Rs were fast and consistent in every stint. We have five cars in the top 9, with no major technical issues. »

A major performance from Weissach who returns to the match for the Manufacturers' title against Mercedes-AMG, eight points behind before Suzuka and the Kyalami final. If Porsche will mainly be represented in Japan by Absolute Racing and Earl Bamber Motorsports, Sebastian Golz indicates that “nothing is yet set in stone for South Africa”.

Asked about the possibility of seeing Earl Bamber Motorsports again, winner at Bathurst at the start of the year, the manager told us that “it could be them”. Definitive answer in the coming weeks.
