Sheldon van der Linde with BMW Team Schnitzer in Kyalami

South African motorsport fans will be able to count on several drivers from the rainbow nation during the 2019 Intercontinental GT Challenge final (November 22-23) in Kyalami.

Outre Jordan Pepper chez Bentley Team M-Sport, Sheldon van der Linde will reinforce the South African contingent, after having been confirmed on the BMW M6 GT3 n°42 – Team Schnitzer on the nine-hour run.

The BMW driver in DTM, who joined the Munich fold at the start of the season, will support regulars Augusto Farfus and Martin Tomczyk, who have contested the first four events of the year since kicking off at the Bathurst 12 Hours last February.

This will be the first international race for Sheldon van der Linde on the track. “Some members of my family, like my grandparents, have never seen me participate in an international race, says the pilot.

They will finally be able to do it in Kyalami. I expect the atmosphere to be great as it has been a long time since a major international race took place in South Africa.

So it will be something new for the fans and they will be excited. And there will be other South African drivers who will compete alongside me, including my brother Kelvin (logically in an Audi R8 LMS GT3). »

BMW took pole at Suzuka at the last meeting of theIGTC with Augusto Farfus, but the BMW M6 GT3 – Team Schnitzer was then unable to confirm in the race, despite a good start to the event.

The German brand will also be represented by the M6 GT3 – Walkenhorst Motorsport with Christian Krognes – Mikkel Jensen – Nick Catsburg.
