Soucek – Parente sign the double in Las Vegas, Ferrari titled

The conclusion of the 2019 Blancpain GT World Challenge America season in Las Vegas (Nevada) yesterday allowed K-Pax Racing and the tandem Alvaro Parente – Andy Soucek (Bentley Continental GT3 n°9) to shine in the two races on the program .

Parti depuis la pole en course 1, Soucek est cependant battu au premier virage par Scott Hargrove (Porsche 911 GT3 R n°58 – Wright Motorsports) et le champion 2019 Toni Vilander (Ferrari 488 GT3 °61 – R. Ferri Motorsports).

But the Spaniard remained patient and gradually recovered to regain first place on the 6th lap, Hargrove having also been found guilty of having exceeded the limits of the track at the first turn at the start.

The rest of the race will be a virtual formality for the No. 9 Bentley, Parente taking over from Soucek by starting again ahead of his rivals led by Patrick Long (No. 911 Porsche 3 GT58 R) after the change of drivers.

The Portuguese won with more than 8″ ahead of the Toni Vilander – Miguel Molina tandem, who took advantage of the puncture of the No. 911 Porsche 58 of Patrick Long on the last lap to move up to second position and finish in front the second Bentley Continental GT3 n°3 – K-Pax Racing of Maxime Soulet and Rodrigo Baptista.

The second race held at night saw an almost copy of the start of race 1, Andy Soucek losing the advantage against Miguel Molina. But the driver of the No. 61 Ferrari is found guilty of having carried out his maneuver outside the limits of the track, and must surrender his position.

Pit stops saw the #9 Bentley maintain the advantage. K-Pax also took advantage of a missed stop at R. Ferri Motorsports to see the No. 3 Bentley take second position for a double which offered the Teams title to K-Pax Racing.

Ferrari, however, won the Manufacturers' title in the championship, after having already seen Toni Vilander crowned among the Drivers.

In Pro-Am, RealTime Racing (Hedlund – Cameron / Acura NSX GT3) and Squadra Corse (van der Zande – Fuentes) won respectively in races 1 and 2 in Las Vegas.

At the end of this American final, Mercedes-AMG also pockets the overall GT World Challenge title, rewarding the brands' customer programs on the continents of Europe, America and Asia. The brand with the star beats Ferrari, the only other brand entered this year.
