TCR – Gabriele Tarquini debuts the Hyundai i30 on track

In parallel with his activity rally, both via its official program in WRC, that for its customers with the R5 version of its i20, Hyundai Motorsport had recently announced its commitment to the circuit, via the development of an i30 TCR.

To carry out this project, the department based in Alzenau in Germany retained the services of Italian Gabriele Tarquini, 2009 WTCC world champion.

The latter was able to really evolve for the first time on the track, after several shakedowns, a few days ago during three days of running in Spain at Motorland in Aragon.

“The first test of a new car is always a very exciting moment in a project, and having carried out three days without major problems, makes it even better, comments Andrea Adamo, head of the Customer Competition department.

We were able to complete everything we had planned for this test, which is obviously a good start to our extensive development schedule for the i30 TCR project.

We were able to work on the balance of the car and start to develop an initial setup configuration that we can use in the future, not only on the handling side, but also for the main engine and differential parameters.

We can now use this as a basis for future testing, as we focus on maximum performance from specific components. »

The i30 TCR features a 2,0-liter turbo engine, mated to a six-speed sequential gearbox. Tests will continue throughout the year, before the first deliveries scheduled for December.
