TCR: the new Audi RS 3 LMS is revealed

Not officially present in WTCR during the 2020 season, Audi is not abandoning the category. The German manufacturer unveiled the second generation of the Audi RS 3 LMS, eligible for the TCR category, in a virtual show.

“We are emphasizing the importance of motorsport for our road products and are presenting a still-disguised racing car before the spearhead of the corresponding production model hits the market,” said Julius Seebach, Managing Director of Audi Sport GmbH and head of Audi Motorsport. “The Audi RS 3 LMS is a clear commitment to customer racing and represents records in our program.

We want to continue the remarkable series of successes of the first generation with the new model. No other four-ring racing car has been produced as many times in a single generation as the first generation RS 3 LMS, of which 180 examples were built. The compact racing car is not only the most successful in commercial terms, but also in sporting terms: in just four years, the entry-level touring car has achieved 279 victories.” Ten successes have been achieved in WTCR since its launch in 2018.

Among the main improvements, we obviously note racing performance with 340 horsepower in the trunk, but also safety and ergonomics. “We want to offer the teams a car that is even more of a racing car than before.” according to Chris Reinke, head of Audi Customer Racing.
