Thed Bjork secures the double for Lynk & Co

the Swedish veteran gave the Chinese brand Lynk & Co a double after Yann Ehrlacher's victory the day before on the Hungaroring track in the Budapest region. Norbert Michelisz, the local hero and championship leader, finished the race very far in the rankings.

  • The TCR WORLD TOUR big names quickly took the advantage over pole sitter Dusan Borkovic. So at the first corner Thed Bjork and Fred Vervisch are in the first two places 
  • Behind them is total chaos. A trap into which the pilots will fall Hyundai Norbert Michelisz and Borkovic. The Serb rammed the Hungarian's car after also being pushed by Santiago Urrutia, himself hit by Norbie Michelisz. The race is over for Michelisz, left rear suspension collapsed! 
  • The safety car went on track while Davidovski's Audi RS3 (entered in TCR Europe for Comtoyou Racing) was badly damaged following the mess at the second corner. 
  • At the restart, Bjork restarts the debates taking Vervisch and Urrutia with him. Ehrlacher 10th on the grid is now 7th! 
  • The driver who benefited the most from this collision was Rob Huff, who moved up to 5th after 5 laps. 
  • He is closely followed by Nestor Girolami: overtaking on the Hungarian circuit is always just as tricky. The Argentinian is patient. Bebu has still not confirmed that he will participate in the rest of the 2023 campaign having only raised the budget for the first 4 rounds of the season. 
  • Urrutia, who was threatening Vervisch for 2nd place, must now defend the rear threatened by Azcona and Huff. The latter will also be the author of an unstoppable attack to take 3rd place from the Uruguayan. The latter receives a drive through for having hit Michelisz. 
  • He falls in the C2 ranking (18th after his penalty). 
  • Even before the end of the 6th lap, Huff unleashed, seized 2nd place at the expense of his teammate Vervisch. 
  • A group formed for 4th place. Girolami, Azcona and Ehrlacher are all fighting for this good place in the top 5. 
  • Vervisch seems to be in difficulty with his tires Azcona came back on the Belgian just after halfway. Thanks to his top speed, the Comtoyou driver manages to control the attacks of the 2022 WTCR champion. 
  • Thed Bjork wins his first TCR WORLD TOUR success. He won ahead of Huff and Vervisch who resisted Azcona's attacks. 
  • Yann Ehrlacher can be satisfied, he leaves Hungary as the sole leader of the championship. Michelisz only took 19th place for the day. 
  • The next time the TCR WT competitors will take to the track will be in Uruguay from August 18 to 20 on the new El Piñar track.
