Here's one that won't accompany BMW's debut in IMSA in 2023. Timo Glock announced this Wednesday, September 5, the end of his collaboration with the Hélice brand at the end of this 2022 season.

The 40-year-old German pilot posted a long message on Instagram to announce the news. This association between the former pilot of Formula 1 and the Bavarian manufacturer went back 10 years, and was marked by nine years in the German Touring Championship (DTM, 5th in 2018) and several endurance races in GT3.

“Thank you to BMW Motorsport for spending 10 years together around the world on the best racing circuits anyone could dream of. I really enjoyed this intense period in DTM, with these wonderful Class 1 cars, and these superb victories and podiums.

One of the strongest moments was the Spa-Francorchamps 24 Hours race with Alex Zanardi (In 2015) ! One of those races that I will never forget! » Timo Glock also has a special memory for the DTM race at Hockenheim in 2018, marked by a duel with Gary Paffett (Mercedes).

“I think everyone remembers the legendary battle against Gary Paffett in 2018! Anyone who has seen it knows that I still burn for this sport and that I always will! »

Timo Glock will end this chapter with BMW in the Italian GT Championship. He is in third place in the general classification with the Ceccato Motors Racing team and the BMW M4 GT3. But the end of his career has not yet completely arrived, according to the end of the message written by the German.

“Now it’s time to move forward. I close my eyes to the end of a period and open my heart to new paths. »
