Accidentd twice in 2018, Tarquini expects a tough weekend at the Nürburgring

The stainless Gabriele Tarquini (Hyundai) should not be at the party on the Nordschleife at the Nürburgring (June 20-22). This is not a journalistic prediction, but an admission from the Italian himself.

“My relationship with this circuit is very strange. I’m not very strong on this track”, recognizes the outgoing WTCR champion. In 2018, the veteran of the paddock had abandoned twice after accidents. The kind of mishap that can leave psychological marks, even if the person concerned denies it.

“I am not performing as well as the other drivers on the Nordschleife. I have no problem with that, he tempers. I don't have a good rhythm, I have a lot of difficulty. » It is not the simulator solution that could resolve this discomfort.

“After two rounds, it makes me sick. I can't use the simulator. OK, I could do VLN races (championship only organized on the Nordschleife. Editor's note) or do a few laps, but it's not easy, the costs are very high. Renting this circuit represents a significant amount of money. »

Gabriele Tarquini is seventh in the general classification after four meetings, 55 points behind leader Esteban Guerrieri (Honda).
