At the end of a particularly long second qualifying session due to several interruptions, it was Attila Tassi (Honda) who took his first WTCR pole for WTCR Race 3 in Vila Real (Portugal). KCMG locked down the front row with Tiago Monteiro who failed a tenth behind his teammate. Lynk & Co follow in the second row with Yann Ehralcher and Yvan Muller. Rob Huff (Volkswagen) completed Q3.
Jean-Karl Vernay (Audi) failed at the gates of Q3 ahead of Nicky Catsburg (Hyundai), Mikel Azcona (Cupra) and ranking leader Esteban Guerrieri (Honda). Ma Qing Hua (Alfa Romeo) took pole for Race 2 by finishing 10th in Q2 ahead of Nestor Girolami (Honda) and Kevin Ceccon (Alfa Romeo) who was unable to set a time after hitting a barrier.
Frédéric Vervisch (Audi) failed at the gates of Q2, 3 thousandths behind Jean-Karl Vernay. Johan Kristoffersson (Volkswagen) followed in 14th place. Norbert Michelisz (Hyundai), the winner the day before, was only able to take 16th place. Aurélien Panis (Cupra) ranked 19th.
Race 2 will start at 16:15 p.m. while Race 3 will follow at 17:30 p.m. The meeting will be followed live on Eurosport channels.
