Ehrlacher above the rest at the Nürburgring

The operation looked good, it was magnificent. Yann Ehrlacher took his second victory of the season on Saturday in Race 2 at the Nürburgring. Starting in second position, he overtook his main championship opponent Nestor Girolami at the end of the first lap and then flew away. “I waited for the right moment to overtake him then I rode hard on the second lap to make the gap. It's incredible to win here on the Nordschleife. Perhaps the best victory of my career,” commented the winner.

Girolami then passed by Thed Bjork to gain second place, giving Cyan Racing and Lynk & Co a double.

It is Andrea Tassi who completes the podium, since Girolami received a 30-second penalty for not having respected the starting procedure. The Argentinian was pushed out of the points.

Great performance from Mikel Azcona and his Zengo Motorsport Cupra who finished fourth ahead of yesterday's winner Esteban Guerrieri (Honda) and Frenchman Jean-Karl Vernay (Alfa Romeo).

The race was marked by the accident of Gilles Magnus and his Comtoyou Racing Audi, who went straight into the grass before hitting the wall. The Belgian team is not in good shape this weekend since Nathanael Berthon could not do better than 12th.

In the championship, Yann Ehrlacher flies away. Girolami and Yvan Müller, his main rivals so far, did not finish in the top 5. He is now ahead of them by 31 and 32 points, more than a victory. With Thed Bjork back in third place, Lynk & Co places three drivers in the top 4.
