Hyundai swaps i30 N for Elantra N in 2021

After years of good and loyal service, marked by the Drivers' titles of Gabriele Tarquini and Norbert Michelisz in 2018 and 2019 and the Teams coronation in 2018, the career in WTCR for the Hyundai i30 N will end in this 2021 season.

Hyundai Motorsport indeed made it official this Monday morning the replacement of the i30 N by the Elantra, which had remained in development for several months.

The four drivers of the Korean brand, namely Norbert Michelisz and Gabriele Tarquini (BRC Hyundai N Lukoil Squadra Corse) and the pair Jean-Karl Vernay – Luca Engstler (Engstler Hyundai N Liqui Moly Racing Team), will therefore be able to count on the latest addition to the Alzenau competition department, which notably features a brand new 2-liter turbo engine block.

“We have included our four Customer Racing drivers as well as the teams at every stage of the development of the Hyundai Elantra N TCR, so that everyone can gain great experience with the car, specifies Andrea Adamo, boss of Hyundai Motorsport.

With the support of our Customer Racing engineers, there will be even more testing before the first race at the Nürburgring to ensure the best possible start to the season. »

The WTCR World Touring Car Cup will begin from June 3-5 on the Nürburgring Nordschleife
