Kristoffersson with Sébastien Loeb Racing

Johan Kristoffersson embarks on a new challenge by signing up with Sébastien Loeb Racing in WTCR. The two-time reigning World RX champion will continue to defend the interests of Volkswagen since he will drive one of the 4 Golf GTI TCRs fielded by his former opponent's team. His new program comes shortly after the announcement of withdrawal of PSRX Team Sweden of the World Championship Rallycross.

“After 4 years in Rallycross, this will be my first season in touring at international level since 2013. Most of the circuits will be a discovery for me and they will represent a great challenge. Sébastien Loeb Racing is an experienced team and I am delighted to join it while remaining within the Volkswagen family”, recalls Johan Kristoffersson.

Sébastien Loeb Racing has also confirmed the presence of Rob Huff and Mehdi Bennani, with the 4th driver still to be confirmed.

“The WTCR is an excellent platform to showcase the performance of the Golf GTI, added Sven Smeets, director of VW Motorsport. In addition, the competition is very tough and that is enough for Volkswagen to strengthen its involvement. We are going to have a very strong crew with us in 2019.”

Sébastien Loeb Racing should indeed be a leading team in the WTCR field by welcoming Johan Kristoffersson who dominated the World RX while winning the STCC title the same year at the wheel of the Golf GTI TCR. The VWs will particularly have to face Lynk & Co who pulled out all the stops to achieve victory.
