Adria final replaced by Motorland Aragon

The World Touring Car Cup (WTCR) is adapting its 2020 calendar. The final scheduled for Adria (Italy) on November 14 and 15 is canceled due to unfinished work on the trans trackalpine.

The approval of the Adria International Raceway by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) is not yet effective, due to postponements of works linked to the Covid-19 pandemic and then violent downpours at the start of the school year. .

WTCR promoter Eurosport Events has found a backup solution in returning to Motorland Aragon (Spain), while the penultimate round is already taking place there on All Saints' Day weekend.

Le Pure ETCR, the electric version of the touring championship, is also transferred to the Spanish desert. “The last inspection of the circuit yesterday (Friday) was a disappointment but a simple reality: Adria will not be able to meet the homologation deadline and host the WTCR finale, said François Ribeiro, head of Eurosport Events.

“We had to react very quickly with the FIA to put an alternative plan in place, and I can only be grateful to our partner Motorland Aragón for intervening with a viable and safe solution. All our teams and suppliers will leave their equipment in Aragón, thus minimizing their travel across confined countries in Europe.

Eurosport Events and the FIA are working hand in hand to deliver a season finale in the safest possible conditions at a time when the health situation in Europe is significantly deteriorating. »
