Bäckman brother and sister arrive with Hyundai

After the Muller family, it is the turn of the Bäckman family which will make their debut in the World Touring Car Cup (WTCR) in 2021. The siblings are made up of sister, Jessica, and brother Andreas. The two Swedes will be the rookies. They are registered with a team they know well, the Target Competition.

They will benefit, in the same way as the official drivers, from two gleaming Hyundai Elantra N TCR. The Bäckmans are not new to the discipline since they are regular leaders in the European Touring Car Championship (6th for Andreas and 18th for Jessica in 2020). Jessica is the first competitor registered to compete in the women's classification recognized by the FIA.  

« One of my biggest career goals has been to compete with the best drivers in the world in WTCR, explains Jessica Bäckman. VSIt seems unreal to announce that I have achieved this goal. The fact that I am also the first woman is something I have always dreamed of and hope inspire more women to start and persevere in motorsport. I will give everything I can and I am looking forward to the start of the season. I can't wait to take the next step in my racing career and develop even more as a driver. »
