Big news of the 2019 WTCR season, the Lynk & Co 03 TCR made its first laps in Sweden with Yvan Muller and Thed Björk at the wheel.

First tests for the Lynk & Co 03 TCR

It will be one of the attractions of the 2019 WTCR. The all-new Lynk & Co 03 TCR, developed by the Geely Group Motorsport entity, recently took to the track for its first official tests. Runs carried out in Sweden at Mantorp Park, home of Cyan Racing which will operate the car next season, then under the mild Portuguese atmosphere at Estoril.

For the occasion, Yvan Muller and Thed Björk, both confirmed for the 2019 WTCR campaign, had logically been requisitioned. A first contact which raises serious hopes for Björk.

“The Lynk & Co 03 TCR met my expectations, comments the former WTCC champion. Geely Group Motorsport has done an excellent job of development so far and we can't wait to get started as we face arguably one of the most challenging seasons in touring car history in 2019."

New tests will take place before the start of the season next April, with the aim of making the car more reliable. “We are satisfied with the progress made so far,” admits Alexander Murdzevski Schedvin, head of the Geely Group Motorsport division. The evaluation program is going as planned and we have an intense few months ahead of us to ensure a competitive car for our customer teams. »

Only Cyan Racing is currently confirmed to develop the Link & Co 03 in 2019. Besides Muller and Björk, already made official, Yann Ehrlacher could well be the third driver retained by the Swedish structure for the 2019 season.
