Tarquini in the service of Michelisz: “He deserves the title”
Gabriele Tarquini (Hyundai) ne conservera pas son titre en Coupe du monde des voitures de tourisme (WTCR). L’Italien l’a assuré en amont de l’épreuve de Suzuka (Japon, 25-27 octobre).
“It’s clearly over for me, announced the 57-year-old veteran, ranked eighth in the championship, 91 points behind his teammate Norbert Michelisz. With three meetings still to go, Gabriele Tarquini's objective will be to lend a hand to "Norbi" Michelisz, who only has a 15-point margin over his direct pursuer, Esteban Guerrieri (Honda).
“I am ready to help him no matter the circumstances, continues the wearer of number 1. Last year, I was still ahead of him but the gap was small. This time he's doing a fantastic job, he's helped me a lot and I'm ready to return the favor at the end of the campaign.
Norbi is so talented that he doesn't need my expertise on how to approach the end of the season. But if I find myself in front or behind him on the track, I will help him with a smile. He deserves the title. »
Norbert Michelisz was on course to clinch his first WTCC world title in 2017, but two events dashed his hopes, as the former WTCC driver explains. F1. “Sometimes he was unlucky.
