The first three events of the 2023 TCR Europe series, all on circuits of Formula 1, will be part of the inaugural season of the TCR World Tour. The cooperation between the WSC group and the European series will begin in Portugal at the Autódromo do Algarve in Portimão from April 28 to 30 where both series will begin, will continue in Belgium at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps from May 26 to 28 and will finish at the Hungaroring in Budapest from June 16 to 18.

Marcello Lotti, President of WSC, said: “We are very pleased with this agreement with TCR Europe which rewards the long-standing cooperation between WSC and Paulo Ferreira. The choice to include three TCR Europe events in the 2023 TCR World Tour was guided by the appeal of Formula 1 circuits and the number of TCR cars based in Europe, which will encourage the participation of international drivers. In fact, we want the TCR World Tour to have a significant impact on touring car competition globally and in this regard the addition of three iconic circuits like Algarve, Spa and Hungaroring to Bathurst which was announced previously shows that we are on the right track. Interest in the TCR World Tour is huge from drivers aiming to climb the TCR World Rankings and qualify for the TCR World Finals. »

TCR Europe promoter Paulo Ferreira said: “We are extremely proud of this opportunity to be part of this new chapter of global touring car competition from its inception. The TCR World Tour will further strengthen TCR competition by promoting relationships between the different series around the world. I am sure that TCR Europe and its stakeholders will greatly benefit from this cooperation. »
