Rob Huff (Audi) didn't make the trip to Australia for nothing. The 2012 WTCC world champion collected the highest number of points in the three rounds held at Sydney Motorsport Park. Third in the first match played on Saturday morning, the Briton seems very comfortable on the Australian circuit.

In race 2, Nestor Girolami (Honda) starts from pole position. Huff is in ambush. He goes very wide in the second turn to avoid contact with Thed Bjork (Link & Co) in distress. The two men rejoin the track in 4th and 5th place. Azcona is the victim of contact in the middle of the pack. The 2022 WTCR champion is forced to return to the pits to get his Elantra back into running condition.

Yann Ehrlacher scares himself

On the third lap of the race, Yann Ehrlacher (Lynk & Co) was hit violently by the Peugeot 308 from local rider Jordan Cox. The impact is impressive (since measuring more than 200 km/h, editor's note), but the Alsatian is able to get back on the track. He is deep in the rankings (19th). He manages with his profession and talent to return to the provisional podium. But for behavior deemed illegal behind the safety car, he received a penalty which ultimately ranked him 6th.

Before the last race of the weekend, the Frenchman considers himself lucky and maintains the lead in the general classification tied on points with Norbert Michelisz (Hyundai). The Hungarian leads this race and as he prepares to pocket the maximum points. A few laps from the checkerboard, he made a small driving error which opened the door wide for Rob Huff who pounced on this gift from the Hungarian. The race was once again won by local Will Brown (Erebus Motorsport driver in Australian Supercars), Huff crossed the finish line in 2nd place which gave him victory in the TCR World Tour.

Huff continues his momentum

In the second race of the day, contested under the floodlights, Rob Huff started from the front row alongside Will Brown. The Briton will have an exemplary race and take control of the race in the final moments on the track. He signs an important victory since at the end of this first meeting in the Southern Hemisphere, “Huffy” and Comtoyou are in 1nd place overall behind Norbert Michelisz who manages to stay at the top of the ranking.

Second in this round without shining, Michelisz provides the essentials. 21 points behind the Magyar, we find Yann Ehrlacher who finished 5th in this final round. Very upset during the 3 races, Ehrlacher will be keen to redeem himself next week on the legendary Bathurst track. Mikel Azcona isn't completely out of the picture for the regular season standings yet. Fourth overall, he is 38 lengths behind his teammate.

The next meeting of the TCR World Tour is scheduled for next week at Mount Panorama, again with TCR Australia.
