To define this Race 2, the word to use is: eventful. Indeed, the pilots engaged in a heated battle which gave rise to numerous accidents.
Attila Tasi and Gabriele Tarquini for example did not cross the threshold of the first round. Neck to neck from the first few meters the two found themselves on the mat after a clash from which Norbert Michelisz finally emerged unscathed.
Up front, the fight for first place raged. Starting seventh, Tom Coronel made an excellent start and played for the win from the start against his teammate Gilles Magnus and Esteban Guerrieri. " I knew I had a chance, we've always been fast here ". And the Dutchman did not let this chance escape.
Once the yellow flags were waved following the incident between Nathanaël Berthon and Yvan Müller, Tom Coronel went on the attack. Sticking to leader Esteban Guerrieri, the Comtoyou DHL Racing driver saw his efforts bear fruit two laps from the finish when he took control in the last corner.
« I saw a hole and boom! This is what we always fight for », he explained after the checkered flag.
Tom Coronel thus won his first victory of the season with a little more than a second ahead of his teammate Gilles Magnus and 3 over Esteban Guerrieri.

As if that wasn't enough, Race 2 was marked by Nestor Girolami's incredible accident on the last lap. The Argentinian hit the safety barriers after a collision with Frenchman Jean Karl-Vernay.
