Hyundai hat-trick, Tarquini does it again in Race 3 in Marrakech

Le week-end d’ouverture à Marrakech (Maroc) se termine comme il avait débuté samedi : par une démonstration de force des Hyundai i30 N. And like Race 1 the day before, Gabriele tarquini demonstrated that he should be counted on despite his 56 years, by signing another victory.

Starting in pole position, the Italian from the BRC Racing Team did not see the long-term contact between Yvan muller (Hyundai, 2nd) and Norbert Michelisz (Hyundai), vying for second position as soon as the lights go out. The latter fell back in the classification at the first turn and finished fifth; the Frenchman received a black and white flag warning regarding his driving.

The boss-pilot then recovered second position when his teammate Thed Bjork (Hyundai, 3rd) pulled over neatly at the side of the track. An unexpected maneuver since the Swede was close behind Gabriele Tarquini until now.

As is often the case in Marrakech, neutralizations punctuated the event following various clashes. This is also the cause of the abandonments of Frédéric Vervisch (Audi) and Nathanaël Berthon (Audi).

On the French side, note the consistency of Yann Ehrlacher (Honda), once again at the foot of the podium. Winner an hour earlier in Race 2 (reverse grid), Jean-Karl Vernay (Audi) is content with points for ninth place. John Filippi (Cupra) is 10th, Aurélien Panis (Audi) 16th. As for Aurélien Comte (Peugeot ), he was unable to leave the pit lane after a collision with Benjamin Lessennes (Honda) in Race 2.
