WTCR – 11 different models in the Balance of Performance tests

While the World Touring Car Cup (WTCR) season will only begin on April 7 and 8 in Marrakech (Morocco), preparations are well underway. All cars homologated under the TCR regulations will travel to the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia (Spain) from February 12 to 14 to carry out the usual Balance of Performance (BoP) tests.

New cars will rub shoulders with safe values. Two French manufacturers will be present: Renault, with the Mégane developed by Vukovic Motorsport et Peugeot with the less unofficial 308 TCR. Actively honed by the BRC Racing Team, the Hyundai i30 N that the quadruple champion will drive WTCC Yvan Muller will accompany the gallops of the Seat Leon, Volkswagen Golf GTI or Honda Civic Type-R. Finally, the Russian firm Lada, officially seen in the WTCC until 2016, is reappearing, with a model still to be confirmed.

Only one driver will carry out the tests: the British Daniel Lloyd, regular in the TCR International Series. This is an important task that awaits the 25-year-old pilot. “I have a lot of experience with front-wheel drive cars which will help me. The TCR and the teams have complete confidence in me”, he adds. Two phases of testing will be carried out, on a test bench then on the track.

Balance of Performance results will be released in mid-March, and will be immediately applied in all TCR badge competitions around the world. FIA technical inspectors will assist those of the TCR due to the FIA ​​label affixed to the WTCR.
