It wasn't just the 24 Hours of Le Mans this weekend on the motorsport planet. The WTCR was also there with the fourth meeting of the 2021 season in Hungary. Three Frenchmen monopolized the first three places in the drivers' standings before the two races at the Hungaroring. On Saturday, it was Robert Huff who took pole position ahead of Santiago Urrutia and Norbert Michelisz.
Race 1 was lively from the start until the last lap this Sunday morning. In the end, it was Gilles Magnus (Audi) who crossed the checkered flag first, taking advantage of the reverse grid, ahead of Mikel Azcona (Cupra) and the Frenchman Yann Ehrlacher (Lynk & Co) who thus took points back from Jean -Karl Vernay (Hyundai), only 14th at the finish.
The end of the race was marked by the big battle for second position on the last lap. Mikel Azcona authoritatively overtook Frédéric Vervisch, which benefited Jean-Karl Vernay to climb to the last step of the podium.
#Hungaroring will be singing Tales of Brave Mikel for ages ??

Starting from pole position in race 2, Santiago Urrutia (Cupra) won without difficulty during the second race of the weekend late in the afternoon. The Uruguayan driver finished just under two seconds ahead of Nestor Girolami (Hyundai). The podium is completed by Frédéric Vervisch (Audi), very strong on the Hungarian turnstile. Quite the opposite of Jean-Karl Vernay who failed in 13th place, which concluded a difficult weekend for him.
@Santi_urrutia 'hungariest' of them all! Winner in #Hungaroring ?
The @cyanracing man finishes his weekend on a high after inheriting the lead slot on the start grid. He sure capitalized on it?
