Girolami on pole for a breath in front of Berthon

It was by 26 thousandths of a second that “Nath” Berthon stole pole position on the Rhine ring circuit. Frustrated but nevertheless satisfied, the Audi driver admits: “ I really thought I had done the perfect lap, all my sectors were perfect. It's a shame, I don't know how many P2s I have in qualifying since the start of the season. I'm still happy because it's a new Q3 for me, it proves that we are in the game. We work well, we manage to better and adjust the car well.» Nestor Girolami (Honda) is over the moon, his plan to apply himself and aim for consistency seems to be paying off. Mikel Azcona (Hyundai), the leader of the World Cup, continues his path without worrying too much about his opponents. This third place in Q3 allows him to collect good points, he continues to control his lead over Nestor Girolami for the moment second in the championship. Esteban Guerrieri (Honda) and Gilles Magnus (Audi) bring up the rear of the top 5. Tiago Monteiro seems to be adapting well to the route of the Ring of the Rhine. The Portuguese from Honda obtains his best qualifying place of the season, he is 6th on the grid. The disappointment is for Norbert Michelisz (Hyundai) who misses a great opportunity, he will start the main race from 8th place.

Qualifying was once again complicated for Rob Huff (Cupra), the 2012 WTCC world champion will start in 9th position in the main race, but on the front row of race 2 (alongside Mehdi Bennani, the poleman of this second race). The Briton will have a good chance to play, he who occupies 3rd place in the general classification. This qualifying session took place under the interested but moved gaze of Yann Ehrlacher and his uncle Yvan Muller. The two Link & Co-Cyan Racing drivers wanted to be there for the many fans who came to meet them.
