Second on the grid, Jean-Karl Vernay did not take long to get going despite the sequence of races. Very responsive, he surprised Yvan Muller when the lights went out to take the lead even before the first corner. The hardest part was done, the Tricolor then imposed its rhythm to quickly open a gap with the Alsatian. The rest then became a long quiet river for the Villerubannais until the 20th and final lap.
Then quietly in the lead with more than 6 seconds in advance, JKV saw the safety car enter the scene after contact between Yann Ehrlacher and Esteban Guerrieri in the final moments. Forced to restart the pack for a final lap added by the race direction, Jean-Karl Vernay handled his duty perfectly, flying towards his second victory in 2021 ahead of the Lynk & Co of Yvan Muller and Santiago Urrutia. Frédéric Vervisch and Yann Ehrlacher completed the Top 5.

Are we allowed to take off our gloves during the return lap to the pits? If not, he will be penalized.
