The top of the TCR pyramid will not have survived the controversies between competitors and promoters. In the space of five seasons, the competition will have offered us the pleasure of experiencing the emergence and double crown of Yann Ehrlacher (2020 and 2021). The Alsatian will, unfortunately, not have defended his victory in 2022, his employer Lynk & Co having decided to withdraw from the Cup, the weekend of the race held at home, on the Ring of the Rhine.

With a 60-point lead, Mikel Azcona (Hyundai) is almost guaranteed to top the crown. To carry out his mission, the Iberian will be able to be satisfied with the third time of the qualifying session to be titled. This last round will be contested in unknown territory for all the competitors, since it is the Jeddah circuit which will welcome the caravan.

A grid roughly similar to that of Bahrain will be there. Nestor Girolami (Münnich Motorsport), probable future runner-up to Azcona, will lead the Hondas of his compatriot Esteban Guerrieri, Tiago Monteiro and Attila Tassi (Engstler Motorsport). Hyundai will be able to count on Norbert Michelisz and Nicky Catsburg to assist Azcona. The Comtoyou Racing Audis of Nathanaël Berthon, Gilles Magnus, Mehdi Bennani and Tom Coronel will be keen to finish the season well. A local driver, Ahmed Bin Khanen, will join the ranks, while Franco Girolami and Viktor Davidovski will still be on the trip. Zengö Motorsport has entered Rob Huff for this farewell round, so perhaps we'll be lucky enough to see the record winner in Macau come and spoil the party one last time with his WTCR comrades.
