Ultimate Cup Series Paul Ricard: Saturday summary

Despite the second confinement imposed in France, the Ultimate Cup is back for a final round on the Castellet circuit. From 8 a.m., the competitors entered in GT Sprint set off for two fifteen-minute qualifying sessions, to then give way to the single-seater and LMP3 and LMP4 categories.

At 11 a.m., the start is given for race 1 in the GT Sprint category. The race was won by Christian Machate (G2 Racing AG) after the disqualification of Marc Waechter (G2 Racing AG). Revenge was taken by the Swiss driver during race 2, who won the race and finished ahead of Philippe Colançon (Duqueine) and Milan Petelet (ABM), a regular on the podiums this season.

Surprise for race 1 in single-seaters: Simon Gachet (Formula Motorsport) wins ahead of Konstantin Lachenauer and puts an end to the hegemony of the Swiss driver. Lachenauer will be able to count on tomorrow's last two races to ensure his probable victory in the title race in car, even if nothing is decided yet, the points counting double this weekend.

This Saturday day ended with the LMP3/CN/EVO prototype race. A four-hour race that started at 15:30 p.m. and ended at 19:30 p.m. At the end of this traditional event with twists and turns, it was the No. 69 Cool Racing crew (Doquin/Jounny) who won the race in the LMP3 category.

In the CN AT category, the No. 71 crew of ANS Motorsport (Fort/Marroc/Jouvent) won far ahead of the No. 777 crew of Lamo Racing (Lafourcade/Prunet/Lamolinaire). Finally, in the CN EVO category, crew no. 4 of the MC FI team (Maurin/Girardot/Veyrat) crosses the line first.

The action continues this Sunday.
