A Whincup-van Gisbergen-Götz trio for Triple Eight at Bathurst

Triple Eight Engineering will be placed among the potential favorites of Bathurst 12 Hours (January 31 – February 2), opening of theIntercontinental GT Challenge 2020.

Firstly, Roland Dane's team has incommensurable experience of the Mount Panorama Circuit in Supercars, secondly, the trio which will be aligned on the Mercedes-AMG GT3 will look great with Jamie Whincup – Shane van Gisbergen – Maxi Götz.

There is no need to present the three drivers in detail, Whincup and van Gisbergen having both won the Supercars title (seven times for Whincup, once for the Kiwi), Whincup having also added four victories at Bathurst 1 to his record, an event that has never won van Gisbergen.

The latter can, however, achieve success at the 12 Hours of Bathurst in 2016 with Tekno Autosports and the McLaren 650S GT3, just like Whincup, winner the following year with the Ferrari 488 GT3 – Maranello Motorsport.

The two Supercars big names were already together in the Mercedes-AMG GT3 – Triple Eight Engineering last year on the Australian Tour, associated with the legend Craig Lowndes, for a 4th place at the finish.

Maxi Götz digitally replaces Lowndes, past in the Porsche and Earl Bamber Motorsport clan, and will be able to offer his great experience of the category and of the Mercedes. The 2014 Blancpain Sprint Series champion took third place at the Bathurst 12 Hours in 2019 with the GruppeM Racing car, shared with Maxi Buhk and Raffaele Marciello.
