By achieving two successes during the first two races of the Tasmania SuperSprint weekend, the Australian Craig Lowndes took his V8 Supercars win total to 99. Starting from pole position during both rounds this Saturday, the driver of the Holden Commodore Red Bull Racing Australia first beat the Ford Falcon of Mark Winterbottom (Pepsi Max Crew – PRA) and the Holden Commodore of James Courtney (Holden Racing Team) in the first event, before taking a Holden hat-trick in C2.
Jamie Whincup (Red Bull Racing Australia) finished 2nd ahead of James Courtney, who retains control of the championship before the third race scheduled for tomorrow which could see Lowndes grab his 100th victory. Note that Scott Pye, who replaces Marcos Ambrose at the wheel of the DJR Team Penske Ford Falcon, ranked 18th and 17th this Saturday.
