Valentino Rossi is a man who lives life to the fullest. The legend of MotoGP, retired from the discipline since 2021, is not inactive however. Between managing his VR46 team, which is shining this season with Marco Bezzecchi, and his new career as a GT driver, the Italian has no time to be bored. This weekend again, the man with nine world motorcycle titles is in Barcelona for the last round of the season.Endurance Cup, in GT World Challenge Europe.
The Team WRT driver still had time to reflect on his new life at the microphone of our colleagues from RTBF. And the least we can say is that Valentino Rossi appreciates his reconversion to motorsport. “I appreciate this period. Riding in Moto GP means competing in more than 20 GPs per year. It's being away for a long time. By continuing my career in car racing, I have fewer races and therefore more free time”, confided the native of Urbino.
Valentino Rossi “love” ride with WRT and Maxime Martin
At 44, Valentino Rossi is successfully making his career change: winner of Road To Le Mans on the 24 Hours circuit last June, he also won his first GT World Challenge race “at home”, on the Misano circuit in mid-July. A great progression that he considers possible thanks to Team WRT and his teammate Maxime Martin.
“I wanted to continue competing. I really love it with auto racing. Vincent Vosse came to see me in Tavulia. I am delighted today to ride in his Belgian WRT team, said “The Doctor”. It's a great team, high level and where the atmosphere is very pleasant. We are having a lot of fun. And riding with Maxime Martin is fantastic because he's so fast and he's also a great guy. I learn a lot from him. »
The two men could find themselves in WEC next year, behind the wheel of the BMW M4 GT3. In all likelihood, Team WRT should be able to operate two machines from the German brand in the new LMGT3 category, and one of the two would be reserved for Valentino Rossi and his Belgian teammate.
