Whelen – Vilarino gets back in the saddle at Brands Hatch

Ander Vilarino (Banco TFT Santander) did not let his opponents steal victory from him at Brands Hatch where the second Elite 1 Race of the weekend where the American SpeedFest was held took place today. The double reigning champion retained his pole advantage at the start against Anthony Kumpen (PK Carsport) to sign his fourth success on the British circuit and his 15th in the discipline.

However, the Spaniard did not have an easy time, Anthony Kumpen having put significant pressure on the leader of the race, particularly during the restart carried out at the end of the event following the exit of the track of William Ayer Jr (Flag Racing ). Ander Vilarino was able to maintain the advantage until a final neutralization which occurred following the collision between Mathias Luada (DF-1 Racing by B66), Romain Ianetta (RDV Competition) and Eddie Cheever III (Caal Racing), the winner of the day before.

Ander Vilarino wins ahead of Anthony Kumpen while Christophe Bouchut (DF-1 Racing by B66) completes the podium ahead of Borja Garcia (Ford Autolix Competition) and Bas Leinders (Marc VDS) who are ahead of Frédéric Gabillon (Still Racing). But it was Anthony Kumpen who carried out the good operation by taking the lead in the Championship after his fourth place obtained in the Saturday race.

The next meeting of the Nascar Whelen Euro Series will be contested July 5-6 at Tours Speedway, a half-mile oval.
