World Challenge America – K-Pax Racing crushes the competition in Texas

With more than thirty seconds of gap with the competition, it is an understatement to say that K-Pax Racing dominated its subject for the opening of the Blancpain GT World Challenge America 2019 in Austin, Texas.

The team, allied with Bentley on the other side of the Atlantic, placed its two Continental GT3s in the first two places last night, with Maxime Soulet and Rodrigo Baptista (n°3) emerging victorious in their duel with Alvaro Parente and Andy Soucek (n°9).

However, it was this second tandem, starting from pole, which had dominated the start of the race, quickly interrupted under a red flag, following the exit from the track in the winding first sector of the Mercedes-AMG GT3 n°63 – DXDT Racing by David Askew.

But the pit stops will see the No. 3 Bentley restart in front of the sister car, Maxime Soulet maintaining a sufficient lead over Alvaro Parente, slowed down in his progress by traffic. The Belgian thus offers its first victory to the new generation Continental GT3, which has been racing since last year, notably in the Blancpain GT Series in Europe.

The podium is completed by the Porsche 911 GT3 R n°58 – Wright Motorsports de Patrick Long et Scott Hargrove devant la Ferrari 488 GT3 n°61 – R. Ferri Motorsports de Vilander – Molina (Vilander scoring first points for Ferrari in the new Blancpain GT World Challenge), and the No. 488 Ferrari 3 GT33 – TR3 Racing of Wei Lu – Jeff Segal, winners in Pro-Am.

It was another Ferrari 488 GT3, the No. 7 – Squadra Corse de Bacarella – Fuentes, which won in Am. The second race will take place this Sunday evening at COTA.
