World Challenge Asia – Solite Indigo shines at home in Korea

The only Korean-flagged team competing in Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia, Solite Indigo Racing, with Mercedes-AMG GT3 n°97 of MG Choi and Manuel Metzger, performed well last weekend on the Yeongam track in Korea.

The hierarchy does not change until the driver changes, where Absolute Racing retains control of the race with the Porsche no. 911 now entrusted to Philip Hamprecht, now chased by the Mercedes-AMGG T3 no. 97 of Manuel Metzger. The latter finally succeeded in the decisive overtaking taking advantage of a Mercedes-AMG GT4 – Craft-Bamboo Racing hindering Hamprecht.

From then on, Metzger will go all the way to sign a third victory in 2019 ahead of Marco Gomes (Ferrari no. 27) and Hamprecht.

The next day, it was another Porsche 911 GT3 R, the No. 918 – Panther/AAS of Alex Imperatori and Vutthikorn Inthraphuvasak, the latter taking the advantage over the Mercedes-AMG GT3 No. 888 – Triple Eight Engineering of Jefri Ibrahim, torchbearer for Shane van Gisbergen. The duo will not even see the podium, since two other 911 GT3 R, No. 910 – JRM by Liu – van der Drift, and No. 912 – Absolute Racing by Bo – Hongli complete the 100% Porsche trifecta.

Before the championship final in Shanghai at the end of September, MG Choi dominates the general classification with 12 points ahead of the Hamprecht – Sathienthirakul tandem.
