This is the start of a new chapter for WRT. After 13 years of collaboration with Audi, the Belgian team has started its new association with the manufacturer BMW. Barely had the GT World season ended – which concluded with a Sprint Cup title for the team with Dries Vanthoor and Charles Weerts – that the first tests with the BMW M4 GT3 began on the Barcelona-Catalonia circuit.

“Something very different” for WRT

WRT was able to gain initial experience with the BMW M4 GT3 that the team will drive next season, alongside testing of the German manufacturer's LMDh, the M Hybrid V8. The Belgian team had two cars and two drivers available in Spain: the star of MotoGP Valentino Rossi and BMW factory driver Philipp Eng. Vincent Vosse, team director, gave his drivers the opportunity to take their first laps at the wheel of their next mount for 2023. “It's just a first run, just to understand the car and how we could work. But obviously, it's something very different from what we know. »

The racing program for the BMW M Team WRT with the BMW M4 GT3 in 2023 has not yet been confirmed. The Bavarian manufacturer is currently in talks with all associated teams regarding the calendar for the new season and will make decisions on this subject in close cooperation with these teams. Decisions will be announced later, as will the announcement of drivers for next year.
