WTCC-C1: Tiago Monteiro winner in Hungary

Leader on the grid for the opening race, Frenchman John Filippi (Citroën C-Elysée – Sébastien Loeb Racing) was unable to take advantage of its preferential position after stalling, thus offering Tiago Monteiro (Honda) the opportunity to take control of the race ahead of Max Chilton (Citroën C-Elysée – Sébastien Loeb Racing) and Thed Björk (Volvo)

The Swede is, however, under pressure from Norbert Michelisz (Honda), who attempts a maneuver on the Volvo driver and takes third place, not without a contact which causes a puncture on the Civic a few moments later, when Björk has to give up .

In the lead, Monteiro is still ahead of Chilton, while Nestor Girolami (Volvo) inherited third position ahead of his Argentine compatriot Esteban Guerrieri (Chevrolet Cruze – Campos Racing). The latter must keep Rob Huff's Citroën C-Elysée – Münnich Motorsport behind him, becoming more and more insistent as the laps go by.

The Briton will manage to overtake the two South Americans to climb onto the podium behind the Monteiro – Chilton tandem. The top 5 is completed by the Volvos of Girolami and Nicky Catsburg, who got the better of Guerrieri at the end of the race.

Yann Ehrlacher (Lada Vesta – RC Motorsport) finished 8th while Aurélien Panis (Honda Civic – Zengo Motorsport) entered the top 10. John Filippi finally finished in 14th place one lap behind.
