WTCC – Camilo Echevarría will debut in Argentina

Jose Maria Lopez will not be the only Albiceleste driver on the Termas de Rio Hondo track next weekend, for the eighth round of the 2014 WTCC. He will be joined in the peloton by the young Camilo Echevarría, 23, who will pilot a BMW 320 TC of Team Engstler in the TC2 category. The Argentinian will replace the Italian Pasquale Di Sabatino, usual driver entered for the season, and will notably rub shoulders with the boss of the team Franz Engstler, leader of the “second division” of the championship.

“I am very happy to have the opportunity to join WTCC racing in my home country,
declares the young Argentinian. I am extremely motivated after Sunday's victory (in the Argentine Touring Championship, Editor's note) and I hope that my debut in the WTCC will go well, without making any mistakes. It will take me some time to get used to the car, but it will help that the BMW is rear-wheel drive, as I have more experience with that type of machine. I'm very excited to meet the team and start testing. »

With Engstler and Echevarría, we will find in TC2 the Frenchman John Filippi, on the Seat Leon of Campos Racing.
