WTCC – Honda disqualified from Ningbo round

This is a big blow for Honda. While its spearhead Tiago Monteiro misses his second event of the season this weekend in Motegi (Japan), the Civic of Gabriele Tarquini, Ryo Michigami and Norbert Michelisz were disqualified from the previous round in Ningbo (China) contested on October 15 last.

The commissioners noted that the fuel injection system did not comply with the regulations due to its length. The three official Hondas of JAS Motorsport were excluded from qualifying, MAC 3 and the two races of the Chinese meeting. The private Hondas entrusted to the Zengo Motorsport team suffered the same fate.

The fuel injection system in question was reserved for the No. 34 Honda of Ryo Michigami, but this element was also used on the Japanese cars of Gabriele Tarquini and Norbert Michelisz.

Norbert Michelisz loses his third place in the Championship to Nicky Catsburg (Volvo). Volvo takes the lead in the Manufacturers' Championship, with a considerable lead of 64,5 points over the Japanese brand.
