With the recorded departure of Rob Huff, who will be entered in a Citroën C-Elysée for Münnich Motorsport in 2017, Honda decided to trust the Japanese Ryo Michigami to complete its 2017 WTCC line-up.
Michigami started in the discipline last year, on a fourth Civic TC1 entered during the Twin Ring Motegi event in Japan, and will start this season alongside of the Portuguese Tiago Monteiro and the Hungarian Norbert Michelisz, already seen in 2016 on official Civics.
At 43, the former Super GT champion in 2000 (already with Honda via Team Mugen) becomes the first Japanese driver to be a full-year WTCC driver.
